Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Swistun was born in Poland, immigrated to the US at age 11, and completed the majority of his medical and general surgical training in the metropolitan Chicago area, gaining broad exposure in treatment of diverse populations and surgical conditions. His experience was further enriched by his military active duty service with the US Marines as a Battalion Surgeon, including two combat deployments to the front lines of the conflict in Iraq, between 2005-09.

Dr. Swistun attended the University of Chicago majoring in Visual Arts, and University of Illinois for medical school and General Surgery. He then went on to complete a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at the University of Utah, perfecting the nuances of operating on the hand, breast, craniofacial anomalies, lower extremity and general reconstruction surgery. A subsequent Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship in Beverly Hills and a board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery rounded out his training.

Central to Dr. Swistun’s approach is taking the time to identify specific needs and desires of each patient through attentive listening and systematic examination, educating about all treatment options in a non-biased manner, and together, designing the ideal treatment plan. He keeps in mind the patient’s lifetime goals, and is very selective about at what stage in life certain procedures are appropriate, to maximize their lifelong effect. He also strongly emphasizes continuing close communication and follow-up through the recovery period, as he believes this leads to most optimal long-term surgical outcomes.

Dr. Swistun is happily married for over 20 years, a father of 3 boys, and passionate about time with his family. He maintains his artistic skills with drawing and photography, as a former published freelance photographer and a recent winner of multiple regional photo contests. Along with his wife, he fell in love with Southern California during his Navy service, and together they are here to stay.
